Wintergreen’s POLAR EXPRESS
December 9 and 10, 2016
Wintergreen Arts Center and Machias Savings Bank once again proudly present THE POLAR EXPRESS, a fun family holiday event, on Friday, December 9, and Saturday, December 10, 2016.
All tickets were sold online this year at eventbrite.com.
With the purchase of a $10 roundtrip golden ticket, each passenger climbs aboard Presque Isle Historical Society’s Molly the Trolley who magically transforms herself into THE POLAR EXPRESS. As the conductor punches tickets, riders enjoy a special holiday trip to the North Pole (Wintergreen) where Santa’s Elves serve hot cocoa and sing songs. Everyone gets to decorate sugar cookies, visit with Santa, and take home a jingle bell souvenir.
“This is the fourth annual POLAR EXPRESS,” said Board Co-Chair Kim Guerrette Michaud. “We are joined by an entire cast of volunteers and it truly is a labor of love.”
Rides are intended for children ages 10 and under. All children must be accompanied by a ticketed adult. Time of departure is to be selected when purchasing tickets. “Trains” depart every 20 minutes from Gentile Hall at the University of Maine at Presque Isle (UMPI). All tickets are roundtrip from UMPI to Wintergreen and back to UMPI.
Our sincere thanks also goes out to the dozens and dozens of volunteers who help make this event a success. From our decorators to all our characters — elves, chefs, conductors, right up to Santa himself — and all our behind-the-scenes friends who come together to put the finishing touches on a popular event that is truly a labor of love.
