PRESQUE ISLE, Maine—Wintergreen Arts Center and Katahdin Trust Company announce THE WINTERGREEN EXPRESS will be held on two weekends in December.  Families may choose from the following four evenings to take a ride on the magic trolley:  Friday, December 7, Saturday, December 8, Friday, December 14, and Saturday, December 15, 2018.

Tickets go on sale Monday, November 19, at 12:00 NOON.  Tickets are available online at, click on WINTERGREEN EXPRESS TICKETS,  Tickets are also available over the phone at (207) 762-3576, or at Wintergreen’s 149 State Street location in Presque Isle.

With the purchase of a $10 roundtrip golden ticket, each passenger climbs aboard Presque Isle Historical Society’s Molly the Trolley who magically transforms herself into THE WINTERGREEN EXPRESS.  As the conductor punches tickets, riders enjoy a special holiday trip to the North Pole (Wintergreen) where Santa’s Elves serve hot cocoa and sing songs.  Everyone gets to decorate sugar cookies, visit with Santa, and take home a jingle bell souvenir.

“This is Wintergreen’s sixth annual WINTERGREEN EXPRESS,” said Kim Guerrette Michaud, Wintergreen’s Board Chair.  “We are joined by so many volunteers who truly make this a magical experience for the young and young-at-heart.  Together, Wintergreen and Katahdin Trust, thank our event partners, University of Maine at Presque Isle, Graves’ Shop ‘n Save, Northern Light A. R. Gould Hospital, Momentum Aroostook, and the Presque Isle High School Class of 2020.”

“The Bank is excited to be a part of THE WINTERGREEN EXPRESS again this year,” said Krista Putnam, Senior Vice President of Marketing at Katahdin Trust.  “It gives families a great opportunity to have fun and spend time together, all while continuing to support the incredible work of the Wintergreen Arts Center.  Our employees are also looking forward to being a part of the holiday cheer by volunteering at this wonderful event.”

Rides are intended for children ages 10 and under.  All children must be accompanied by at least one ticketed adult.  Time of departure is to be selected when purchasing tickets.  Trolleys depart every 20 minutes from Gentile Hall at the University of Maine at Presque Isle (UMPI) from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Fridays and 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Saturdays.  All tickets are roundtrip from UMPI to Wintergreen and back to UMPI.
