Presque Isle, Maine<\/strong>\u2014The Wintergreen Arts Center is gearing up for its third annual CHAIR-ity event with a call for artists and a friendly Challenge for CHAIR-ity to local businesses and organizations.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis year\u2019s CHAIR-ity event offers a friendly challenge to those who seek a little bit of competitive fun,\u201d said Dottie Hutchins, Wintergreen\u2019s executive director.\u00a0 \u201cAs well as a call for individual artists, we are also putting out a call for local businesses and organizations to take up the Challenge for CHAIR-ity.\u00a0 The Presque Isle Police Department was the first team to step up to recreate a chair for this year\u2019s event.\u00a0 Presque Isle City Hall is the second, so the challenge is on.\u201d<\/p>\n

PIPD Chief Matt Irwin said, \u201cWe plan to take on this challenge as a department team, and we invite others in the community to join us by submitting their own repurposed chair for CHAIR-ity.\u00a0 It benefits both Wintergreen and the Rotary in their efforts to fund great projects.\u201d<\/p>\n

\"City<\/a>The third annual CHAIR-ity chair show will stay on display at Wintergreen for the month of November.\u00a0 Opening bids begin during the November 3rd Opening Reception.\u00a0 The show will later go “on the road” with the 70th<\/sup> Annual Presque Isle Rotary Auction.\u00a0 First, chairs will be displayed in the Rotary Auction Showroom at the Aroostook Centre Mall beginning November 18; and, eventually sold during the Rotary Auction on December 16.<\/p>\n

\u201cLast year local artists did an amazing job painting and decorating new wooden mini chairs,\u201d said Hutchins.\u00a0 \u201cThis year, we are returning to our original concept of repurposing, recreating, and redesigning a wide variety of both large and small chairs, benches, stools, and unique seats of many ages, makes and models.\u201d<\/p>\n

To donate a chair or pick one up for repurposing, please call the Wintergreen Arts Center at (207) 762-3576.\u00a0 All completed chairs at due back at Wintergreen by the middle of October.<\/p>\n
