Presque Isle, Maine<\/strong>\u2014On October 1, Zoey Violette and her mother Gretchen Violette will appear on stage to represent the Wintergreen Arts Center at The Band Visits Cariani<\/em><\/strong>, a benefit performance in New York City featuring an evening of scenes from plays written by accomplished playwright and actor John Cariani.<\/p>\n

Proceeds from the one-night-only event will benefit the Wintergreen Arts Center in Presque Isle, Cariani\u2019s hometown.<\/p>\n

Zoey Violette has participated in a variety of arts programming at Wintergreen including the Center\u2019s 2017 production of the children\u2019s musical, We Are Monsters<\/em><\/strong> with Director Darci Faye, where she discovered her passion for the performing arts.\u00a0 Violette has gone on to hone her acting and singing skills with other local performing arts groups.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m really excited to see John and the performance,\u201d said Zoey Violette.\u00a0 \u201cI love being on stage and never thought I\u2019d get to be doing something this cool.\u00a0 It is super amazing for Wintergreen.\u00a0 This stuff just doesn\u2019t happen every day.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Violette family members are lifelong friends of John Cariani and long-time Wintergreen supporters and volunteers.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are so proud to have Zoey, Gretchen, and Margaret represent us in New York,\u201d said Dottie Hutchins, Wintergreen\u2019s executive director.\u00a0 \u201cWhat John Cariani is doing to support the Wintergreen Arts Center and arts appreciation in northern Maine feels almost like a miracle.\u00a0 John\u2019s connection to Presque Isle and the Violette family makes it even more special to have Zoey and Gretchen up on that stage to extend our gratitude.\u201d<\/p>\n

Although Hutchins will miss the October 1st<\/sup> benefit presentation of The Band Visits Cariani<\/em><\/strong> due to programming obligations at Wintergreen, she will be attending John Cariani\u2019s last performance in the 10-time Tony Award-winning Best Musical, The Band\u2019s Visit<\/em><\/strong>, on Sunday, October 7.<\/p>\n

John Cariani is leaving The Band\u2019s Visit<\/em><\/strong> so he can devote more time to his writing.\u00a0 He is currently turning Almost, Maine <\/em><\/strong>into a novel which will be published by MacMillan in the coming year.<\/p>\n
