PRESQUE ISLE, Maine<\/strong>\u2014Wintergreen\nArts Center recently received a grant in the amount of $10,000 from the Davis\nFamily Foundation to expand digital arts programming to middle and high school\nstudents.   <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe are grateful to the Davis Family Foundation for this\nvery generous grant as well as for their continued support on many levels over\nthe last decade,\u201d said Dottie Hutchins, Wintergreen\u2019s executive director.  \u201cWintergreen is fortunate to be the recipient\nof the kind of dedication the Davis Family Foundation extends toward cultural\nand arts organizations.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Historically,\nthe Wintergreen Arts Center\u2019s programming has primarily focused on children\u2019s arts\neducation for students ranging in age from preschool through the eighth\ngrade.  Funding from this Davis Family\nFoundation grant will expand Wintergreen\u2019s programming to include students up\nthrough the twelfth grade. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWith\nthe help of this much needed and appreciated grant,\u201d said Hutchins, \u201cWe now\nseek to attract more middle and high school students to Wintergreen, and we\nbelieve offering high-quality digital arts instruction will open our doors to\nopportunities for older students.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

 More about the Davis Family Foundation:  <\/em><\/strong>The Davis Family Foundation is a public\ncharitable foundation established by Phyllis C. Davis and H. Halsey Davis of\nFalmouth, Maine, to support educational, medical and cultural\/arts\norganizations located primarily in Maine. The Foundation was established\nfollowing Mr. Davis’ retirement as President and Chairman of Shaw\u2019s\nSupermarkets, Inc. Their overriding goal for the Foundation was simple and\nstraightforward: \u201cto make grants where they will do the most good and where our\ngifts make a real difference.\u201d The Foundation has provided more\nthan $58 million in grants since its grantmaking activities began in 1986.<\/em><\/p>\n
