PRESQUE ISLE, Maine<\/strong>\u2014Wintergreen\nArts Center recently received a $10,000 grant from the Onion Foundation.  The gift is for Wintergreen to use in service\nof getting more Mainers access to the arts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Onion Foundation is a private philanthropic foundation\nbased in Auburn, Maine, with a mission to encourage conservation and\nstewardship of the natural environment and to promote music and the arts in the\nstate of Maine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe are extremely grateful and honored,\u201d said Dottie\nHutchins, Wintergreen\u2019s executive director. \n\u201cReceiving this much needed support feels like a wonderful\nacknowledgement of our staff, board, volunteers, mission, and programming.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hutchins added, \u201cLast summer, in efforts to expand their grantmaking statewide, the Onion Foundation\u2019s program officer learned about Wintergreen from a friend with ties to Aroostook County, and contacted us.\u00a0 We were thrilled and it ended up being a good fit.\u00a0 <\/p>\n\n\n\n

“I love the story behind the entrepreneurs who founded the Onion Foundation, and inspired by their ability to touch people all over the world, including communities here in northern Maine.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\nThe Onion Foundation is a private charitable foundation established in 2014 by\nFritz and Susan Onion.  It was created\nwith the mission of encouraging conservation and stewardship of the natural\nenvironment and promoting music and the arts in the state of Maine.  Having grown up in Farmington, a small town\nin the western foothills of Maine, Fritz and Susan both value living in a rural\ncommunity with access to the outdoors.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n
