Opening reception to be held Friday, June 2, Community Support Day on Saturday, June 3<\/em><\/p>\n

PRESQUE ISLE, Maine\u2014<\/strong>The Wintergreen Arts Center is featuring a year of student art projects during the month of June.\u00a0 The opening reception\u2014\u201cCreativity Opens Doors!\u201d\u2014will be held on Friday, June 2, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, during the First Friday Downtown Art Walk.\u00a0 Wintergreen\u2019s Community Support Day follows on Saturday, June 3, from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm.\u00a0 Both events are free and open to the public.\u00a0 Light refreshments will be served.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur Community Support Day is a day of celebrating creativity and being thankful,\u201d said Kim Guerrette Michaud, chairman of the board.\u00a0 \u201cThroughout the year, Wintergreen touches the lives of so many people through creative experiences, quality arts programming, events, and family opportunities.\u00a0 We are extremely grateful for our partners, volunteers, and supporters.\u00a0 This is a very special day to thank them for their commitment and dedication.\u201d<\/p>\n

On Saturday, doors open at 10:00 am for the public to tour the Center, enjoy refreshments, and get creative.\u00a0 A variety of craft projects will be set up for the young and young-at-heart.\u00a0 Face painting will also be available and a showing of student art projects will be the highlight of the day.<\/p>\n

Student art projects to be on display include the book \u201cOur Stories\u201d written and illustrated by Mrs. Athena Hallowell\u2019s after-school students; photos, props, and memorabilia from Miss Darci Faye\u2019s youth theater plays, \u201cThe Ugly Duckling\u201d and \u201cThe Adventures in the World of Luster,\u201d and the musical, \u201cWe Are Monsters.\u201d\u00a0 The Presque Isle Community Garden fence project currently being completed by Mrs. Kara Addington\u2019s students will be featured along with art projects by Mrs. Lisa Brewer and Mrs. Katie Greenlaw\u2019s preschool students, Wintergreen\u2019s homeschoolers\u2019 classes, and more.<\/p>\n
