The show touched hundreds of people and through the generosity of Alan\u2019s family, an auction of his artwork and the sale of a book he helped to write, brought in $2,574.00, with all proceeds divided equally between Wintergreen and Catholic Charities.<a href=\"http:\/\/www.wintergreenarts.org\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/514b6368-a96d-4af1-baf1-5f3796392b9c.jpeg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-984\" src=\"http:\/\/www.wintergreenarts.org\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/514b6368-a96d-4af1-baf1-5f3796392b9c-300x160.jpeg\" alt=\"514b6368-a96d-4af1-baf1-5f3796392b9c\" width=\"300\" height=\"160\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.wintergreenarts.org\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/514b6368-a96d-4af1-baf1-5f3796392b9c-300x160.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/www.wintergreenarts.org\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/514b6368-a96d-4af1-baf1-5f3796392b9c.jpeg 999w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Alan\u2019s mother, Alice Bolstridge said, \u201cWith this donation, the family thanks these organizations for the important role they play in contributing to community mental health. I cannot overemphasize the therapeutic significance of artistic expression in Alan\u2019s life. And Catholic Charities\u2019 mental health services provided for Alan\u2019s needs in a variety of ways for most of his adult life: basic survival needs of housing, food, housekeeping services, and supplies he obtained in their \u2018free\u2019 store; that he often used in surprising ways in his art.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Dottie Hutchins, Wintergreen\u2019s executive director, said, \u201cOn <span data-term=\"goog_324943652\">May 6<\/span>, we held a reception during the First <span data-term=\"goog_324943653\">Friday<\/span> Art Walk which drew a crowd of over 125 people including several members of Alan\u2019s family.\u00a0 Alice gave a moving and candid talk about Alan, the importance of art in his life, and his illness.
