Wintergreen receives $10,000 grant from Maine Community Foundation

Presque Isle, Maine—Wintergreen Arts Center recently received a 2025 Community Building grant from the Maine Community Foundation. The funding is earmarked for general support to provide quality, affordable arts programming in Aroostook County.

With a combined total of $10,000, Wintergreen received a $7,450 grant from the Aroostook County Fund of the Maine Community Foundation and a $2,550 grant from the Joseph, Lorayne and Jeanne Fund for Aroostook County of the Maine Community Foundation.

“The Maine Community Foundation is amazing,” said Dottie Hutchins, Wintergreen’s executive director. “When it comes to support, funding is only one part of the equation. The Maine Community Foundation’s staff, board, and funders listen to and understand what it takes to build strong communities. They do great things for the people of Maine.”

Wintergreen is an organization based on the idea that creativity, advocacy, and community can produce great things.

In 2024, Wintergreen served over 3,970 family members through its creative preschool, outdoor learning program for young children, after school and summer arts programs, and a wide variety of workshops. Wintergreen supports local artists through monthly gallery exhibitions. Our signature holiday events welcome family members of all ages.

General support funding from the Maine Community Foundation allows Wintergreen to meet its goal of intentionally serving economically challenged families through a scholarship program for its after school and summer arts programs.

“We are extremely grateful for the Maine Community Foundation,” Dottie added. “Their continued support allows us to empower local youth, adults, and families to connect and express themselves through the arts and creative process.”
