PRESQUE ISLE, Maine—Wintergreen Arts Center recently received a $5,000 Organization Operations Grant from the Maine Arts Commission. This grant provides general operating support for the 2026 fiscal year.

“We are so incredibly grateful for this funding from the Maine Arts Commission,” said Allyson Midgley, Wintergreen’s Executive Director. “Their continued support helps us continue to fulfill our mission and to maintain and further our programming to support the arts to our community.”

Wintergreen’s mission of stimulating creativity and curiosity through art in Aroostook County is achieved through programming like Under the Willow Tree, a creative preschool, after-school and summer arts programs, Saplings, an art and nature program, and their work with artists. Wintergreen supports local artists through monthly gallery exhibitions and the Aroostook Creative Network, a unique partnership with the Maine Arts Commission. In 2025 Wintergreen served approximately 4,000 family members through its variety of programming and events.

Maine Arts Commission is an independent state agency supported in part by the National Endowment for the Arts, a federal agency. By investing in nonprofit arts organizations, the Commission aims to strengthen Maine’s arts sector, sustain vital infrastructure, and support the creative workforce across the state. The Organization Operations Grant program will help sustain operations and ensure the continued vibrancy of Maine’s arts community.
