Presque Isle, Maine—Wintergreen Arts Center recently received a $10,000 grant from the Maine Community Foundation through the 2026 Community Building grant program for operational support.
“We are so grateful for everyone at the Maine Community Foundation,” said Allyson Midgley, Wintergreen’s executive director. “Their continued support allows us to continue to provide quality arts education opportunities for the people of Aroostook County.
Wintergreen is an organization based on the idea that creativity, advocacy, and community can produce great things. Wintergreen’s mission of stimulating creativity and curiosity through arts in Aroostook County is met through support like that of the Maine Community Foundation. Through its programming, Wintergreen is able to serve students from all walks of life, and that is ability is able to continue and grow through support like the Maine Community Foundation’s.
In 2025, Wintergreen served over 3,398 family members through its creative preschool, after school and summer arts programs, signature holiday events, and a wide variety of workshops. Wintergreen also supports local artists through monthly gallery exhibitions and the Aroostook Creative Network, offering artist summits and micro-grants through a unique partnership with the Maine Arts Commission.
“Our partnership with the Maine Community Foundation is so much more than a financial one,” Allyson added. “They take the time to get to know the organizations they support and they understand what it takes to continue building strong communities. They are a wonderful asset to our state, doing so many great things for the people of Maine. We are so thankful for our relationship with them and for all their support”
