Wintergreen receives two-year grant from Onion Foundation

PRESQUE ISLE, Maine—Wintergreen Arts Center recently received a two-year grant totaling $30,000 from the Onion Foundation. Earmarked for general support, the initial $15,000 gift was received in December 2022.

The Onion Foundation is a private philanthropic foundation based in Maine with a mission to encourage conservation and stewardship of the natural environment and to promote music and the arts in the state of Maine.

“The founders and staff of the Onion Foundation are extraordinary,” said Dottie Hutchins, Wintergreen’s executive director. “They truly understand the importance of supporting day-to-day operations of nonprofit organizations.

“We are extremely grateful for their continued help and encouragement in our efforts to provide high quality, affordable arts programming for the people of Aroostook County.”

This Onion Foundation grant (in part) helps support Wintergreen programs including its After School Arts Program and Summer Arts Camps. This gift also helps ensure no child is turned away from these programs due to inability to pay.
