Presque Isle, Maine—Students from the Wintergreen Arts Center’s after-school program will help install a fence project they’ve been working on for the Presque Isle Community Garden during the Community Garden’s 2nd Annual Spring Fling to be held on June 10, 2017, from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm.  The Community Garden is located at 37 Birch Street.

“Christa Galipeau, the Community Garden’s coordinator, approached us with their fence project last winter,” said Dottie Hutchins, Wintergreen’s executive Director.  “We immediately loved the idea and saw it as a creative way for our students to experience the feeling of giving back to their community.”

The Community Garden project is sponsored and supported by the Presque Isle Housing Authority, 4-H Foundation, Maine Master Gardener Development Board, Natural Resources Council of Maine, Cooperative Extension Master Gardner Volunteers, The Aroostook Medical Center, and the Aroostook District Coordinating Council for Public Health.

“We welcome everyone involved with this project,” said Jennifer Trombley, executive director for the Presque Isle Housing Authority.  “We are happy to host the Community Garden in our neighborhood.”

Other Spring Fling activities include lending a hand with improvement projects, starting a garden plot, a BBQ, and more.  For more information, the public may call the Presque Isle Community Garden at (207) 764-0998.
